Picture this—you wake up one morning, well-rested, back from your dream world, ready to win the real world. You walk into the bathroom, sleepy-eyed, look at your reflection in the mirror, and ZIT! You almost cry in horror on seeing a volc-acne-ic eruption on your face!

There it is, on your face. The pimple you never expected.

No warning. No tremors. The acne bump didn’t even exist a day before!

More often than not, it makes its appearance on your special days, ready to play the party pooper and leave a scar on your skin and your confidence.

However, if you are armed with the right skin care products, you can tackle this annoying issue head-on, or even nip it in the bud; and we have just the right tips you need.

But before anything touches your skin, you must understand what acne is and why pimples occur on the face. Prevention is better than cure, after all, and you can prevent something only when you have enough knowledge about it.

What Is Acne?

Acne, also called pimple or zit, is an inflammation of the skin that occurs when the oil glands under the hair follicles of the skin get clogged due to the development of dead skin cells.

What causes acne is related to two most crucial functions of the skin -

  1. Natural shedding of the dead skin cells.
  2. Production of oil or sebum in the oil glands.

Now, the oil glands periodically empty a wax-like substance called sebum onto the surface of the skin through pores to keep it from drying. But when the dead cells are not shed properly, they sit over the pores, mix with the oil, and clog them.

The clogged oil and dead cells together form a breeding ground for bacteria to grow and cause swelling and redness, which we identify as acne.

Too scientific for you? Then just remember that your skin has tiny openings that spit out oil from the oil glands under it to keep it moisturized. When these openings are plugged with a mixture of dead skin cells and oil, they allow the bad guys, the bacteria, to grow and cause pimples.

So, how to get rid of acne? Become a skin-care crusader armed with the foolproof tips that we have provided below.

How to Clear Pimples on Face

You never know when a stubborn pimple or two are ready to make your skin their home. This skincare routine, if followed religiously, will help you keep acne at bay or ensure the unwelcome guest doesn’t extend its stay.

  1. Cleansing skin is so nice that you repeat it twice.

A cleanser, as gentle as your whisper, works wonders in tenderly keeping the surface of your skin clean without stripping it of its moisture. Do it twice without fail every day to wash away any dirt and oil waiting to make contact with acne-causing bacteria leisurely spending hours on your skin.

  1. Dab your skin with the softest towels!

Whether acne has already caused havoc on your skin or not, you want to ensure that you dab your skin dry (after cleaning it) with a super-soft towel made with natural fibers, like ours.

The natural fibers we use come from Banana, Aloe Vera, and Bamboo. They make our towels incredibly soft and safe to use with their antibacterial properties, giving the other towels in the market tough competition. But we have also given our towels an edge by coating them in an Australian-formulated antimicrobial layer for double protection.

Therefore, ours versus any other towel = the softest and safest towel versus an almost sandpaper-textured towel; and who wants a rough fabric touching their swollen, irritated skin? No one.

  1. Hydrate, mate!

Step three of the routine is to hydrate your skin with a moisturizer that suits your skin type.

Take some of your moisturizer on your fingertips and gently massage it into your beautiful skin. Don’t forget to admire it. It’s distinct and makes you who you are—STUNNING!

  1. Slather on some sunscreen!

The ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun, upon overexposure, may aggravate the acne situation, by making the oil glands secrete more sebum. This may further cause more acne eruptions, burning, pigmentation, etc.

Take a generous amount of your sunscreen (don’t be stingy here) and slather it ever so gently all over your face and neck.

If you don’t know how much sunscreen to take, use the “Little Finger—Ring Finger” rule. Squeeze out your sunscreen in two moderately thick lines over your little finger and ring finger. This is just about a quarter of a teaspoon, and enough to protect your face and neck for a couple of hours.

We say your sunscreen because just like the moisturizer, you need to use one that suits your skin type.

Also, when outdoors, reapply your sunscreen every 2-3 hours.

With this, you are through a crash course on how to reduce pimples on your face. However, there might be another pressing issue—how to remove acne scars naturally.

The first and foremost thing to do to prevent acne scars is to stop pimples from coming on the face. But, if you’re not blessed with the “perfect skin” (which is a myth by the way), you can use the following tips to remove acne scars naturally.

How to Remove Acne Scars Naturally in a Week

  • Hydrate yourself from within to cure pimples. Drink at least 2 liters of water every day.
  • Apply fresh aloe vera gel on the scars and leave it for 30-40 minutes before rinsing with water. Do this twice a day for better results and use a gentle face towel to wipe your face.
  • Apply raw honey directly on the scars. Raw honey is a natural humectant and has antimicrobial properties that heal scars. Leave it on for 20-30 minutes, rinse it off, and gently dab your skin dry with a soft towel.
  • Turmeric also has antimicrobial properties and can help reduce redness and swelling due to acne. Mix some turmeric powder with curd (you can use honey instead of curd too) and form a paste. Apply it on the scars and leave it for about 20 minutes before rinsing it off.

Once you’ve learned how to reduce pimples and how to get rid of acne scars, you can go back to your usual makeup routine. However, you must ensure that your cleansing routine includes removing every ounce of cosmetics on your skin with a good makeup remover and our extraordinarily soft yet highly efficient makeup remover towel.
