Results may naturally vary with use and individual skin sensitivity, and the towel is intended to complement your usual hygiene and skincare routine.
- Because your towel is made with natural fibres, you may notice a little lint during the first few washes. This is completely normal, settles with regular washing, and does not affect the towel’s quality or performance.

Drying and airflow
Don't
Hang a wet towel from one hook so the fabric folds into a thick damp bunch.
Do
Spread your Doctor Towel open on a rod or line after use.
Why: Doctor Towels are made to dry faster when air can pass through them. Faster drying gives bacteria less damp time to build before the towel touches your skin again.
Reuse depends on use
Don't
Use one bath towel for the whole week, especially in humid weather.
Do
Wash bath towels after every 2 uses, sooner if they stay damp or smell musty.
Why: the easiest setup is 2 bath towels per person, so one can dry fully while the other is in use. Keep 3 per person if you sweat often, work out, or dry towels inside a bathroom.
Keep face contact separate
Don't
Wipe your private areas, body, hair, and then face with the same towel surface.
Do
Use the Face Zone only for face, and the Body Zone only for body.
Why: normal towels make it easy to move body bacteria, sweat, oil, and residue back into facial pores. Doctor Towels has differentiated face and body sides so the routine is obvious and cross-contact is easier to avoid.
Softness without friction
Don't
Keep using a towel that turns hard, scratchy, or linty after 10-20 washes.
Do
Pat dry with softer Doctor Towels materials made to feel smoother on skin.
Why: sensitive skin needs less rubbing and less drag. These plant-based viscose fibers are chosen for a smoother hand-feel, so drying feels gentle instead of abrasive.
Watch laundry residue
Don't
Overload detergent or use fabric softener to force a towel to feel soft.
Do
Use mild detergent, rinse well, and let the towel dry fully after washing.
Why: leftover detergent and softener can make towels feel waxy, reduce absorbency, trap odor, and leave residue on skin.
Keep the routine simple
Don't
Wipe your face with a dirty towel right before skincare.
Do
Dry with a bacteria-reducing Doctor Towel, then apply skincare on clean, dry skin.
Why: skincare works better when you are not pressing germs, damp towel odor, lint, or residue into pores immediately before your routine.
The towel touching your skin matters.

Questions that made people switch
Statistically, yes. A landmark study by the University of Arizona found that 90% of bath towels carried coliform bacteria (bacteria found in feces), and 14% carried E. coli. While toilet seats are dry and cleaned regularly, a used towel is damp, warm, and fibrous—the perfect incubator for bacterial colonies.
You might be re-infecting your clean face. When you dry off with a used towel, you transfer dead skin cells, oils, and bacteria (Propionibacterium acnes) back into your freshly cleaned pores. Damp towels can also harbor yeast, which causes fungal acne (Pityrosporum folliculitis)—a condition that does not respond to standard acne creams.
That smell is not just 'dampness'—it is biology. The odor comes from Microbial Volatile Organic Compounds (mVOCs), which are gases released by bacteria and mold as they eat the dead skin cells trapped in your towel. If you can smell it, a biofilm has already formed, and the bacterial colony is numbering in the millions.
You aren't just drying water; you are exfoliating. The average human sheds 30,000 to 40,000 skin cells per hour. Friction from a towel increases this shedding, depositing a layer of organic protein (skin) into the damp fabric. Bacteria do not need 'dirt' to survive; they only need water and your skin cells as a food source.
It comes down to drying speed. Standard thick cotton is designed to hold water, which is great for drying you but terrible for hygiene. If a towel stays damp for longer than 3-4 hours, bacterial growth explodes. Most cotton towels in humid bathrooms stay damp for 12+ hours, allowing bacteria to multiply by 1,000x before you use it again.
Much faster than you think. A fresh towel starts with a negligible bacterial count. After just 24 hours of being used and left damp, that count can jump to 17 million. By day 7, if unwashed, the count can reach nearly 94 million. You aren't drying yourself; you are layering living organisms onto your skin.
